On To His Second Rumford

Jim,

I put a large addition on my farmhouse in 1994. I tracked you down back then after reading an article you wrote in a trade magazine on the Rumford fireplaces. I am a remodeling contractor in Perrysburg, Oh. We spoke several times on the phone and you directed me to Superior in Uhrichsville. Our family has a farm not far from there in Coshocton county.

I did purchase and install a 48" wide unit, 8' x 9' stone inside face with an offset flue and brick and stone chimney w/ a matching offset. Looks tremendous inside and out. We love it! Unfortunately, as a self employed guy my retirement is tied up in the value of my home and surrounding farm land. Town and suburbs are pushing toward us, within a 1/2 mile. We are making initial plans to sell everything and down size if we can find a nice setting. Lousy timing to sell but good time to buy. Problem is I have to have my Rumford. If we find an existing home I would add a fireplace. Thinking and planning a little for the future, I went to Superiors' web site and saw your name so I thought I would send you a note to thank you once again for your assistance in making our great room a "GREAT" room.

Hope all is well with you.

Regards,
Fred Eberly

    Fred,

Nice to hear from you again and thanks for the kind remarks. I have always been interested in remodling or restoring or "Rumfordizing" existing fireplaces. See http://www.rumford.com/rumfordize.html So, when you build a new home or find an existing new house let me help you make sure you get a Rumford.

    Warm regards,
    Jim Buckley
