He's a real fireplace buff (or should I say a fire bug--you should see some of the campfires we've had!), and of course, he installed a Rumford fireplace. I was quite impressed with the heat it put out, much more than the heatilator insert in my home's fireplace. So, I'm wondering whether I (or, rather, a professional) can modify my existing fireplace, or do I need to start over? Any experience in this realm? Thanks for your input.
