Although the fireback in this eight foot Rumford is sloped forward it's a gentle slope and the architect specified a Superior Clay rounded Rumford throat and the fireplace works well. It would have been easier to build with a straight fireback and easier to build tall tipi fires with the logs leaning against the fireback.*
