I had a one piece throat fabricated from stainless steel , this is the joint between the throat and the top of the firebox. what else is used to lay the throat on? And will this still seal the joints even if it is cracked/ It appears pretty solid.

Yeah I called Shaw, no heat stop. None in Canada actually. How much would a clay throat have cost me from Shaw? I suspect quite a bit.

Yvon,

HeatStop is just one brand. I’d be surprised if no refractory mortar was available in NS.

The clay throats are hand-made and pretty expensive but maybe not any more than they cost in Colorado or California nor as expensive as designing and having a SS throat made. How much did that cost?

Jim

150$

I had the parts cut and my brother welded them together

Well, that’s pretty cheap. I would have thought the SS itself would be that much let alone the cutting and welding. I used to use SS molds to cast my throats before hooking up with Superior Clay and I paid about $350 for a 36” throat form 35 years ago. Jim

It draws pretty well, puff of smoke out of the front every once and s while. Pretty windy around here. Should I lower the opening or is this unavoidable?

Thanks
